I thought this was another good exposure to table tennis. Having
several table tennis players on late night talk shows for the past year
since the Olympics is pretty impressive. Barney seemed to fit right
in with the atmosphere and seemed to enjoy himself. He did not look
awkward or shy and was not too serious.
Pretty entertaining to see Adam Sandler smash one past him!

..

[ Laughter ] you'd be happier. >> It sounds better.
>> Conan: right. Does everybody think -- everybody kind
of thinks they're good at table tennis
Ping-Pong. Everybody -- I mean, you could take the sort of the
fattest slob in the world, sitting on the couch who never does
anything, and he'd probably be like, "I'm great at
Ping-Pong!" Is that true, people think they're better
than they are? >> Yeah. In their Ping-Pong world,
they're awesome, because for them, they just stand there and
they think this is Ping-Pong. They don't realize you actually
have to move and the physical that's involved. >> Conan:
what you just did is what I do, pretty much. I stay still and
I just go -- [ Conan chuckles ] [ laughter ] you kind of go --
>> you have to have a good physique for table
tennis, though.

>> Conan: a good -- you should have stopped at good
physique. [ Cheers and applause ] thanks. I have a good
physique for table tennis.
Thank you. [ Laughter ] what does that mean? What about my
body? Just go for it. >> You have speed, you don't have
bulk. 'Cause If you're bulky, you lose the speed and the
quickness. >> Conan: so you think I'm like a wiry cat,
is what you're saying? [ Laughter ] >> cat-like
reflexes. >> Conan: I'm here and then I'm over here,
right? Check this out, I'm here and then I'm over here.

We're going to do this. >> I grab the paddle. >>
Conan: Adam, do you want to do this, too? Adam, come on over.
Help me fight him. [ Cheers and applause ] show us what to do.
>> Okay, you guys want to get ready to play? >>
Conan: all right, what do we do? >> First you got to
Bend your knees, kind of stick your butt out. [ Laughter ]
okay, you guys ready? >> Conan: now, are we holding it
the right way? >> Yeah, you guys are holding it fine.
This is unlike tennis. In table
tennis -- yeah, take your jacket off
and stay a while, Adam. Stay a while. >> Adam: all
right, you got it, baby.
|

|
at 52 minutes
>> Adam: I'm sorry, I gotta let on -- >> Conan:
"yeah, Barney!" >> Adam: yeah, Barney! [
Cheers and applause ] >> Conan: he'll be an ambassador
to killer spin extreme table tennis
-- not Ping-Pong -- championship, this Sunday. You've got to
Settle down. [ Laughter ] "this is great!" Now
you're all into -Pong now. This Sunday at mohegan Sun in
Connecticut. Barney Reed
