A Players View -- Part 1
When planets align, forces of nature shift rhythms of animals to a resonant beat. The Colorado River Open created a world that aligned players in a bright wood filled solar system. Preplanning and table tennis marketing showed as out-of-towners drove past Jalapeno's Restaurant. A warm player welcome stood before the gates in this small American home town perched on a tamed Colorado river.
Pulling into a 60's styled Kofa Hotel led to singing "At the Kofa, Kofa Cabana ..." Wild hearts escaped free in the setting poised for excitement.
A green florescent table tennis sign pointed toward the Parker High School gym. A question popped up which of two gymnasiums to enter. A bright wide eyed man ran out to greet incoming participants. He sported a T-shirt matching the gym's "Home of the Broncs" blue bronco theme. He pointed in exclamation at the incredible level of players in one gym and pointed at another gym for regular players like himself. For those looking for grassroots development -- the grass doesn't get greener than that seen outside these gymnasiums.
